Barbara Walters just can't stay away from "The View".
The New York Daily News reported that Walters is returning to "The View" for the first time in six months since retiring from the daytime talk show. The 84-year-old journalist will return as a guest host alongside current hosts Jenny McCarthy, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd.
But this time around, the show will not be live. ABC announced that Walters will tape the show on Wednesday in New York and will air on Friday. The legendary broadcaster will be discussing her recent interview with filmmaker Peter Rodger, the father of Elliot Rodger.
Elliot is suspected of killing six individuals and injuring 13 before taking his own life near the University of California, Santa Barbara last month. Walter's interview will also air as a special edition on 20/20 on Friday.
Walters' last show as host of "The View" aired on May 16. She left the show after co-hosting for 17 seasons, but will remain an executive producer alongside Bill Geddie. Her big send-off included special words from Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Michael Douglas and several former "View" co-hosts.
"How do you say goodbye to something like 50 years in television?" Walters said in her final words of the show. "If I did anything to help that happen, that's my legacy. So now, having had this amazing career, how can I just walk away and say goodbye?"
She continued: "This way, from the bottom of my heart to all of you whom I have worked and to all you who have watched: I can say thank you... When all of that is done I can take a deep breath and enjoy my view. Thank you."
Walters is set to return to "The View", on Friday, June 27.
