Algeria can ensure they qualify for the knockout round with either a win or a draw. They presently sit No. 2 in the Group H standings with three points, two points ahead of both Russia and South Korea. Heading into Thursday's match, Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic acknowledged it would likely be the most important 90 minutes of his career.

"I think it is probably the most important match of my career, but it is also the most important match for Algeria," Halilhodzic said, via FIFA.com. "It is a qualification match for the second round and when I see great champions being eliminated already and the Algerian team now looking to get to the second round it is a historical match."

Still, Russia could supplant Algeria for the No. 2 spot by winning the match. Although Russia has yet to win in the 2014 tournament, Algeria isn't underestimating them.

"It's going to be a very difficult match as the Russians absolutely have to win if they want to qualify for the next round," Algeria midfielder Abdelmoumene Djabou said. "I hope it's our day and that we'll rise to the challenge. Russia will take the initiative to come at us. We'll have to be wary because they have some great players. We'll try to surprise them."
