CBS has picked up "Bad Teacher" for their fall television schedule according to the Huffington Post. The television series will be produced by Sony Pictures and feature 16 episodes running approximately 30 minuets.
It's based on the 2011 film "Bad Teacher" starring Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Lucy Punch and Jason Segel.
The difference between the television series and the movie is minimal. Different actors have been casted to convey the same attitude of the characters of the movie. Actress Ari Graynor will play the leading role Diaz played in the film.
CBS describes Graynor's rile as an "inappropriate, fearless and unapologetic former trophy wife who masquerades as a teacher in order to find a new man after her wealthy husband leaves her penniless." No word on if the plot will be a continuation from the movie or if "Bad Teacher" fans can anticipate an appearance from its original cast.
According to the Huffington Post, Ryan Hasnsen, David Alan Grier, Sarach Hilbert and Kristin Davis are also cast in the TV show. Their characters have not been revealed.
"Bad Teacher" will join five other new television series picked up by CBS. Deadline is reporting the total of upcoming shows for CBS this fall to be the most in two decades.
According to Deadline, the network only picked up two shows. Although CBS fans can look forward to new shows, they may be displeased with the Beverly Hills Cop possibly not returning to CBS. The reasons for the cancellation of the show on CBS is unclear but it has been reported that the show is being shopped to other networks.
Sony has made impressive deals by securing a show on other networks, The Michael J. Fox Show and After Hours on ABC to name a few.
A preview of the series has not yet been released. The show is expect to air mid-season.
