Andy Serkis and his motion capture studio, The Imaginarium, have landed a big gig with the "Star Wars Episode 7" production.
In an interview with SciFiNow, Serkis opened up about his involvement in Lucasfilm movie. According to Serkis, it took one meeting to convince Abrams to joins forces.
"It's extraordinary," Serkis said. "I grew up with Star Wars and was a massive fan of the original films. I never imagined in a million years that I'd be engaging with this. It's just come about so organically. J.J. Abrams and I met, and we just had this incredible kind of vibe between us.
"He said, 'You'd fit really well in this universe,' and I said, 'I think I probably could.' We're working very closely, as I say, in two ways: the Imaginarium is providing all of the performance characters, and I myself am playing a character in it."
Serkis didn't reveal what his new role is, but expressed his excitement regarding the first "Star Wars Episode 7" production.
"I'm thrilled, deeply excited. Sitting at that read-through the other day was just extraordinary," Serkis said. "It was an amazing event; being with the original cast was just incredible. I just think the script is so wonderful, and both the old and the newbies in the cast are just so thrilled and excited to get together."
Serkis might be enthusiastic about his new role, but "Star Wars" lead actor Harrison Ford recently suffered an injury on set. Ford's publicist Ina Treciokas confirmed to BBC the actor is recovering from a leg injury.
"[Ford's] surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly," Treciokas said in a statement. "He's doing well and looks forward to returning to work."
The actor was spotted on crutches soon after his surgery. Check out the photos here. "Star Wars Episode 7" will be released to theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
