Adam Richman's Travel Channel Show Pulled After Controversial Instagram Posts

Adam Richman's latest series "Man Finds Food," has been pulled from the Travel Channel schedule, after Richman made controversial hashtag reference on Instagram and argued with several of the social media app's users.

Last month, the 40-year-old celebrity chef posted a picture on his Instagram showing off his recent 70-pound weight loss. Richman captioned that photo "Had ordered this suit from a Saville Row tailor over a year ago. Think I'm gonna need to take it in a little...#thinspiration."

The TV personality received major criticism for his hashtag used in the caption which is often found in pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia groups.

The Washington Post reported that Richman was involved in a "nasty war of words" over the picture, which led to an expletive-laced argument.

Richman responded to one user saying "Maybe you'll acknowledge that just because someone is on TV, they are no less worthy of human kindness, respect, forgiveness or patience. Give me a [expletive] break. If anyone acts like a [expletive]; I'll call them one. It's not misogyny, it's calling a spade a spade ... if my use of the hashtag offended you, it was unintentional ... for that I'm sorry."

"Grab a razor blade & draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you," Richman told one user. He told another that the "Only f- up it seems was your Dad's choice to go without a condom."

He later apologized and deleted all the messages related to the incident.

"Yes. I've responded to internet hate recently with vile words directed at those hating me," Richman said, according to the Washington Post. "I am sorry, I should know better and will do better."

As a result of the confrontation Richman's show was pulled from its schedule. The Travel Channel did not indicate whether the decision was connected to Richman's latest antics, according to the Post.

In a Facebook post, Richman wrote, "The show will not be airing on July 2. Still waiting for [an] airing date for the show. Stay tune (sic) MFF fans!"

According to a Facebook description the series was to feature "Richman [crisscrossing] the country on the ultimate quest to uncover unique, surprising and delicious hidden food treasures. The foodie and in-the-know host unveils a combination of off-the-menu items and off-the-grid restaurants - some that are even hidden to locals!"
