"The Dark Knight" actor David Dastmalchian will take on a mysterious role in Marvel's upcoming "Ant-Man" film.
Deadline reports one of the Joker's henchmen has joined the cast, but Marvel refuses to disclose the role. Dastmalchian will allegedly play a big role in the film starring alongside Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Patrick Wilson.
Rudd recently warned fans on "The Colbert Report" they shouldn't expect to see super buff superhero and villains in "Ant-Man." Rudd, who plays the superhero Scott Lang, is getting in shape for the role but isn't hitting the gym too hard.
"I've had to kind of try and get in better shape. I don't get too jacked. It doesn't make sense for someone trying to be an ant," Rudd told the show host.
The production recently came under media scrutiny when director Edgar Wright announced his exit from the film due to creative differences. Director Peyton Reed has since taken on project, but actor Simon Pegg fueled speculations of greater behind-the-scenes drama back in June.
During an interview with Sky Movies, Pegg didn't reveal what exactly happened between Wright and Marvel, but claimed it is unfortunate the former director's vision won't be coming to light.
"I think it's a terrible shame," Pegg said. "I get why perhaps it's happened. Maybe they want a particular thing in line with a particular other thing, but if you hire a director who has a particular vision, you've got to expect him or her to make a such and such film. An Edgar Wright film. That's what that script was and it was interesting. The characters had a real journey. I can't really say too much about it because obviously it's not my thing, but it's their loss."
"Ant-Man" is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
