Another Disney Star is making headlines for substance abuse.
People Magazine reported that Billy Unger, who stars as Chase on the Disney sitcom "Lab Rats," was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence just after midnight on Saturday. Unger's car was pulled over for speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, but police officials suspected that he was inebriated.
The 18-year-old actor reportedly blew a .08, which is the legal limit for of-age drivers, but according to California Alcohol Laws drivers under 21 must have a maximum blood alcohol content of .01. Anything higher is considered driving under the influence.
California has zero tolerance laws for drivers under the age of 21. According to CaliforniaDUIPenalties.net, a first-time DUI conviction result in at least $1,000 in fines, a six-month jail sentence, license suspension or probation.
The actor was released from custody a few hours after his booking and released a statement to TMZ thanking fans for their support.
"In light of last Saturday's occurrence, I wish to let all my fans know how much I value and appreciate their continued support of me at this time," Unger said in a statement Monday. "As I move forward responsibly in this matter, I simply ask the public, and more importantly my fans, to reserve judgment and allow the opportunity for me to address this issue properly through the legal system."
Unger has starred in a number of shows including "Desperate Housewives" and "Hawthorne". He has also appeared as the ancestor of Nicolas Cage's character in "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets".
Other Disney stars that have who have dealt with alcohol problems include Zac Efron, Jake T. Austin, Shia LaBeouf and Lindsay Lohan.
