United States goalkeeper Tim Howard made 16 saves in Tuesday's World Cup match against Belgium. Despite the U.S. losing, Howard's record performance earned him numerous accolades in the form of memes on social media.

Howard deflected the praise, insisting he was just doing his job.
"I've said it all along. That's what I signed up to do. Stick my face in front of balls and get in the way," Howard said Wednesday on "Good Morning America," via ABC news. "That's my job so I was able to do a lot of that last night. I know for me, unfortunately, it wasn't enough but we nearly did it and I couldn't be prouder of this team."
