Did Beyoncé just confirm that her husband Jay Z cheated on her? For months there have been rumors that the "Magna Carta" rapper stepped out on his wife. It was even speculated that the infamous Solange/Jay Z elevator fight was sparked after the rapper was allegedly seen flirting with designer Rachel Roy at a Met Gala after party in New York City in May.
The couple has never addressed the rumors but the Internet is now buzzing that Beyoncé confirmed Jay's cheating when she changed the lyrics to her 2006 song "Resentment" during a Cincinnati concert for their joint "On The Run Tour."
The original lyrics to the song are:
I'll always remember feeling like I was no good/Like I couldn't do it for you like your mistress could/Been ridin' with you for six years... I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she's had half of me..."
And on June 28, Beyoncé sang (the changed lyrics are in bold):
I'll always remember feeling like I was no good/Like I couldn't do it for you like that whack b**ch could/Been ridin with you for twelve years... I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she's had half of me. She ain't even half of me. That b**ch will never be."
It's clear why fans thought the singer was alluding to marriage problems but this isn't the first time Beyoncé has switched up the lyrics. Back in 2009, during a performance in Las Vegas for her "I Am... Yours: An Intimate Performance at Wynn Las Vegas," Beyoncé changed some of the words in the song, which sounds similar to what she belted at her Cincinnati concert. You can check out that performance here.
There are some fans who strongly feel that Beyoncé was definitely letting the world know that her relationship with Jay Z isn't perfect, while others felt the changed lyrics meant absolutely nothing. In the comments section of the YouTube video (posted below), fans pointed out that the "Diva" singer didn't even write the song and others thought she might have been making fun of the rumors.
Another fan, who said they attended a show in Miami, wrote that Bey didn't change the lyrics when she performed the song on June 25.
"I was front at the Miami concert and she didn't sing it like that," the fan commented. "She didn't say 12 yrs in Miami. Also they do love each other but there is damage."
