The suicide note written by Julia Roberts' half-sister, Nancy Motes, revealed why she took her own life.
According to the New York Daily News, Mote said harsh treatment from her other siblings drove her into a "deep depression." Motes' other siblings include actor Eric Roberts and actress Lisa Roberts Gillan.
"My mother and so-called 'siblings' get nothing except the memory that they are the ones that drove me into the deepest depression I've ever been in," reads the handwritten note, reports Mail Online which has obtained the note. "I've suffered thru this disease all my life, however it has never been this bad. I burst into tears every morning (because) I woke up."
The 37-year-old dog walker and "Glee" production assistant was found dead in a bathtub at a friend's home last February. According to the Los Angeles County coroner, Motes committed suicide by taking various drugs and climbing into a bathtub filled with water.
At the time of her death, a suicide note was found at the scene. The note reportedly has three sections which are addressed to Motes' fiancé John Dilbeck, her mother Betty Motes and a separate section addressed to everyone.
"I know this will effect (sic) you the most & I can't apologize enough," Motes wrote in the section addressed to her fiancé. "I was truly blessed & lucky to have you as my true love and best friend. I will carry you with me forever."
Dilbeck and Mote were reportedly planning a May wedding. He is said to be locked in a legal battle with the "Pretty Woman" actress for control over Motes' estate. In the note Motes added: "If anything should happen to me, John Bailey Dilbeck gets whatever he wants of my possessions & ownership of Lucy."
The note was filed in court papers in relation to her estate and read separately in court. According to the Daily Mail, under California law the Los Angeles County Coroner has to give the pages to the person to whom they are addressed.
Before her death, Motes wrote angry messages toward her sister on Twitter - all which have since been deleted.
"So my 'sister' said that with all her friends & fans she doesn't need any more love. Just so you all know 'America's Sweetheart' is a B***h!!" read a tweet from January 20.
"My own family has abandoned me," Motes added two days later.
In April, Roberts spoke with WSJ magazine about Motes' death.
"It's hour-by-hour some days, but you just keep looking ahead," she said. "You don't want anything bad to happen to anyone, but there are so many tragic, painful, inexplicable things in the world. But [as with] any situation of challenge and despair, we must find a way, as a family. It's so hard to formulate a sentence about it outside the weepy huddle of my family."
