Barbara Walters isn't keeping quiet about the recent scandal surrounding ABC's "The View".
Us Weekly has reported the 84-year-old TV personality is speaking out for the first time after the departures of co-host Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy from the daytime morning show. The former co-host told "Extra's" AJ Calloway that the show will continue, despite the recent departures.
"I don't know... I'm not sure. I know 'The View' will continue. "I don't think we have a new direction, yet. I think we have time," Walters told Calloway at the New York City premiere of "A Long Way Down".
Walters retired from the morning show in May. Last week, Shepherd announced that she will be leaving the show after seven years as a co-host.
In a statement, Shepherd said, "It's been seven wonderful years on 'The View' and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."
Following Shepherd's announcement, Jenny McCarthy, a new comer to the show, confirmed she would also be stepping down as co-host from the morning show. Both departures will leave Whoopi Goldberg as the show's only permanent cohost for now.
"My 'View' will be changing too," McCarthy wrote on Twitter. "As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."
Producers have reportedly been eyeing Ross Mathews, Jesse Palmer and former Atlanta district attorney Andi Dorfman as possible replacements. Soures told TMZ that producers are also considering bringing back Rosie O'Donnell.
