Flavor Flav Cited By Las Vegas Police For Use of Illegal Fireworks

Rapper Flavor Flav was cited for using illegal fireworks over the Fourth of July weekend.

According to the Associated Press, Flavor Flav received two citations for setting off illegal fireworks outside his home in Las Vegas on the Fourth of July. The reality TV star is known for his colorful explosives every Fourth of July, which reportedly cost thousands of dollars.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Flavor Flav, whose real name is William Drayton, was attempting to shoot off dozens of fireworks at once to get through them before authorities become involved. More than 100 guests were at the rapper's home when police arrived.

"We all had a ball until the police came," Flavor Flav said. "It isn't like I do this every day."

An unnamed neighbor called authorities to complain about Flav's actions. Police Lt. Ken Romaine said more than 100 pounds of remaining explosives were confiscated from the rapper's home. The Las Vegas Review-Journal stated a special unit was brought to the scene to properly dispose of the explosives.

The 55-year-old former Public Enemy hype man was issued two fireworks-related citations.

The rapper reportedly said neighbors would no longer have to worry about his annual fireworks show because he will be hosting his festivities somewhere new, according to the Associated Press. He added that he does not "want to go to jail for fireworks."

Last year, Flavor Flav was forced to move his fireworks show to another location, after being warned by authorities he would be arrested if he set them off. At the time, the rapper reportedly bought over $8,000 worth of fireworks.
