The performance of Brazil star Neymar was enough to get his team into the semifinals, but now Brazil must find a way to win without him. A back injury sidelined Neymar, whom Brazil insisted won't return for the World Cup, and gave the Brazilian team a new reason to win.
"He has done his share," Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari said, via FIFA.com. "Now it's up to us to do our share. This match we'll be playing not just for ourselves but for our country, for everything we've ever dreamed of, but also for Neymar and everything he's done for us.
"Within our group, we've accepted that. We've left our sad phase behind and we're focusing on other things."
Brazil midfielder Willian shared his manager's sentiments.
"Neymar sets the standard for us. He is capable of deciding any game, so playing without him will be difficult," Willian said. "We know the quality that we have. We are all very sad at losing him but we are now even stronger after what happened and we can continue to pursue our dream."
Germany, meanwhile, isn't underestimating their Neymar-less opponent.
"It's always better when the opponent have all their best players, besides it'll bring the (Brazil) team together and they'll want to win the title for him (Neymar)," German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger said.
