TGI Fridays is now offering a new discount on its appetizers.
The special deal is part of the restaurant chain's "Endless Appetizers" summer promotion meant to bring young adults into locations nationwide, according to USA Today. The marketing campaign lasts until Aug. 24.
Customers can consume the exclusively discounted all-you-can-eat appetizers from the company's popular starters menu for $10 a person. Pick up loaded potato skins, boneless buffalo wings and mozzarella sticks. Or, munch on garlic and basil bruschetta, tuscan spinach dip, crispy green bean fries, and pan-seared pot stickers.
"At the end of the day, our servers aren't policemen," said Brian Gies, chief marketing officer at TGI Fridays. "We're not going to slap someone's hand if they reach over and share someone else's mozzarella sticks. No one should be embarrassed for coming into Fridays and ordering whatever they want to order. They will not be bawled out. There will be no policing or hand-slapping."
One Boston University hospitality professor is not sure how successfully TGI Friday's efforts to attract younger customers will pan out.
"Never ever discount a signature branded item," stated Chris Muller. "The risk comes when a crowd of six, or more, decides to get together and pool their resources, all ordering one item and sharing. Then it is easy to predict that everyone will order at least six refills each, with plates being passed around."
"They'll find that younger millennials may go, have bottomless potato skins, and get three or four orders, which means a lot of time at a table," Darren Tristano, executive vice president at research firm Technomic, told Bloomberg Businessweek.
