Frontier Airlines Pilot Orders Pizza for Stranded Passengers

It is annoying when you are stranded in a flight for several hours. But the irritation would possibly fade away when you and other passengers get free pizzas, courtesy - he pilot. Wouldn't that be delightful?

A Frontier Airlines Flight 719 pilot did just that! Marooned with 160 passengers, Captain Gerhard Bradner ordered dozens of pizzas for all, Monday night.

The flight was to reach Denver, Colorado, from Washington DC's Reagan National Airport. The severe weather prevented it from landing. Moreover, due to low fuel it was diverted to Cheyenne, Wyoming, forcing it to wait for several hours.

The passengers were waiting on board the Airbus A320 when Captain Bradner thought of cheering them up with food.

Cheyenne Domino's Pizza manager Andrew Ritchie told the Associated Press that he received a call about 10 p.m. Monday as he was to about call it a day. Ritchie said the pilot told him he needed to feed 160 people - fast. "I put my hand over the phone and I said: 'Guys, you're coming back,' " Ritchie said recalling what he said to the employees.

What's more? The employees took the mass order as a challenge and quickly made 35 pizzas and gave them over to flight attendants at the airport. "It was definitely one of those 'challenge accepted' moments in time," Ritchie said.

A photo of cabin crew enjoying the food was sent to a local news network. Frontier confirmed the reports.

"He said 'Ladies and gentleman, Frontier Airlines is known for being one of the cheapest airlines in the US, but your captain is not cheap - I just ordered pizza for the entire plane'," passenger Logan Marie Torres told KDVR.

After the food delivery, the flight took off from Cheyenne at 10.30pm local time and landed safely in Denver 15 minutes later.
