Halle Berry Tells David Letterman She Believes in Aliens: 'I Think They Are Out There' (VIDEO)

Halle Berry has admitted that she believes in aliens.

During her appearance on "The Late Show" Monday, the 47-year-old actress confessed to host David Letterman that she believes there are life forms on other planets. The actress appeared on the late-night talk show to promote her new sci-fi mini-series "Extant," but ended up discussing the possibility of extraterrestrial life.

"I don't believe we are the only species in existence," the actress explained. "My ego doesn't tell me that we're the only ones who survived... it might take us 20 years to get to those other life forms, but I think they are out there."

In the upcoming sci-fi thriller, Berry plays astronaut Molly Woods, who returns to earth mysteriously pregnant, after spending 13-months on a solo mission in space. The actress said viewers will have to wait at least 12 episodes to find out how Molly gets pregnant.

"The big question is what is this child going to be like?" Berry told Letterman. "You'll have to watch for about twelve shows."

Berry made similar comments during a premiere screening at the California Science Center, telling the Los Angeles Times, "I'm not so egotistical to think that we're the only ones living in this vast, vast universe."

The actress revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she could not put down the script and added that she was immediately drawn to Molly's character.

"Molly is a strong female character, which I really love to play," Berry told the publication. "Molly is a complicated woman with a complicated family. Who is a woman who goes away to space for a year and leaves her husband, first of all? Who is a woman who comes back pregnant and tries to handle it somehow on her own? That just felt like a complication that I wanted to be a part of."

"Extant" is produced by Steven Spielberg and premieres Wednesday at 9p.m. on CBS.
