Zoe Saldana is finally opening up about being married and trying to keep a career.
In an interview with Fashion Magazine for its August issue, the 36-year-old "Star Trek" actress finally opens up about marrying her husband, Italian artist Marco Perago, just months after her breakup with on-and-off boyfriend Bradley Cooper.
"I was finally able to spend time without being in a relationship and even though, it was a short period of time, it was beautiful," Saldana said. "Where I lost that fear of being alone. It was bliss. Then I met my partner when I was in really a beautiful place in my life. It was like I found all my answers with him not in him. I was finding my answers on my own."
In 2011, Saldana split with former fiancé entrepreneur Keith Britton after 11 years together, and was later spotted spending time with her "The Words" co-star, Cooper. The former couple never denied nor confirmed their relationship.
In May 2013, Saldana and Perago were spotted kissing at the "Star Trek Into Darkness" after party.
"When you are desired and you desire, so many things in your life start to make sense," the actress said. "We both feel we are artists in our core. One moment you're up; the next moment you're down. It all depends. You can sell a collection; you might not sell the next collection. It's like an actor - you get cast or you don't."
"The Guardians of the Galaxy" star also spoke about the competitive world of acting and said added that "the moment you compare yourself to others, it weakens you."
As a mentor for younger actresses, Saldana, who wears a bejeweled gown on the cover of Fashion Magazine, offered some advice for those looking for their big break.
"Whenever these young women come and they just want to take everything all at once, just because they're younger and their asses are harder and plumper, you kind of go, 'Child, sit down,'" she said. "Yes, you're beautiful but listen to these 'one, two, threes.' One: don't hike up your skirt too much. Two: I'm pretty sure you're intelligent so act like it. Three: read a book."
