David Arquette Admits He Proposed to Fiancée Christina McLarty Twice Before She Said Yes

Actor David Arquette is admitting that his romantic proposal to fiancée Christina McClarty did not go as planned. While walking the red carpet for Peak Magazine's 10th Anniversary event on Sunday, the "Scream" actor told reporter Erin Lentz that he proposed to McClarty twice before she said yes.

"I take her outside with our new baby, Charlie, and my daughter, Coco, and then I ask her and she's like 'No, what are you doing?" Arquette added, "There's so many people watching! I had a do-over, and it worked."

The 42-year-old actor proposed to McLarty during dinner at Mastro's steakhouse in Malibu, California last Wednesday, according to Us Weekly. At the time of the engagement, McLarty told E! News there was another couple on the beach taking their engagement photos.

"I proposed to her on the beach in front of a bunch of people and she got really embarrassed," Arquette told E! News.

An insider told Us Weekly that Arquette has "known he wanted to marry McLarty for a long time" and added that the entertainment reporter felt "like the luckiest girl in the world." McLarty's engagement ring features a giant black diamond surrounded by two rounds of smaller white diamonds.

In April 2014, McLarty gave birth to the couple's first child together, 10-week-old Charlie.

"I've done it once so there's not that fear that a first-time parent has because you just don't know what to expect," Arquette said about fatherhood. "You have to have a lot of faith that you will be able to keep them safe and not mess them up too much."

The actor's proposal came six days after his ex-wife Courteney Cox announced her engagement to boyfriend of eight months Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid. Arquette and Cox split in 2012 after nearly 11 years of marriage - but the former couple share 10-year-old daughter, Coco.

A source said, "He and Courteney both talked about taking the next step in their relationships... They both want what's best for each other."
