Whoopi Goldberg is not happy with the negative press surrounding ABC's "The View," and is no longer keeping silent.
During Thursday's episode Goldberg addressed the speculation regarding the departure of co-host Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd, along with the rumors naming several TV personalities as possible replacements.
"There is a lot of speculation about a lot of stuff going on here," Goldberg told the audience. "Yes, I'm here. We don't know who's coming in, but I will tell you this: The respect that I have for the people who work here will not change. I will do my best to respect the audience, to make sure that we bring you 'The View' that Barbara Walters wanted you to have, which is women talking about issues."
She continued: "We are not little kids, we are grown a** women. And so, I'm just tired of people saying, 'Oh, you know if this one comes in, or if this one comes in,' I don't argue with people, we have spirited discussions."
Goldberg assured viewers that regardless of who joins the daytime show next season, "The View" is going to evolve as it always has".
"Quit trying to make something happen and let whatever's going to happen, happen, and we hope you will join us when we come back," Goldberg said.
Goldberg's outburst came moments before ABC officially announced that Rosie O'Donnell would be returning to the show as a co-host. News of O'Donnell's return was received negatively by fellow ex-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
