San Francisco ended Oakland's six-game winning streak with a 5-2 win on Wednesday. Giants outfielder Hunter Pence hit a homerun and accounted for two RBIs, and starting pitcher Matt Cain allowed just two runs on five hits through six innings.

"Felt really good," Pence told the Associated Press. "Guys came up with some big, clutch hits when we needed them. Guys kept putting pressure on those guys, which is always nice."

In addition to ruining the debut of Athletics pitcher Jason Hammel, the Giants moved ahead in the division.

"If you look at how things have gone, you find that amazing," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "It's all from the good work that happened earlier. We've got to get back on track."

Giants pitcher Tim Hudson (7-5, 2.53 ERA) is tasked with following Pence's performance. The right-hander, who played his first six seasons in Oakland, admitted it's always a little different when he plays the A's.

"The organization is a team that I do find a soft spot in my heart for since I spent so many years there," Hudson told MLB.com. "They gave me an opportunity to start my big league career there, but at the same time, they're another team that I'm trying to go out there and beat.

"They're going to try and hit off my forehead and I'm going to try to make them swing and miss. It's going to be a fun day."

Hudson will be opposed by Athletics pitcher Scott Kazmir (10-3, 2.53), who's given up only two runs while striking out 15 batters in his last two outings.
