A World Cup game turned into the opportunity of a life time for a 17-year-old girl who ended up getting a modeling contract.
Axelle Despiegelaere was in Brazil rooting for Belgium's team during its World Cup match against Russia on June 22 when several photographs that were taken of her ended up going viral, according to News.com.au.
Scores of tweeted photos show the blonde-haired teen beaming as she cheers for her country, decked out in the Belgian colors of red, yellow and black.
The digital exposure was enough to capture the attention of world-renown French cosmetics giant L'Oreal, which offered Despiegelaere a contract. She has already been featured in L'Oreal's social media campaign in Belgium, according to The Independent.
A promotional "beauty tutorial" video for the campaign shows the football fan-turned model having her golden tresses washed, blow-dried and flat ironed in a hair salon. The tutorial has received over 850,000 views since it was posted on YouTube on Tuesday.
Unfortunately for Belgium's soccer team, Despiegelaere's cheering was not enough to help them stay in the World Cup. Belgium was defeated by Argentina 1-0 at the quarterfinal match last week.
