HBO will continue "Game of Thrones" production even if George R.R. Martin doesn't complete the novels before final season.
HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills there are no plans to slow down production.
"No ... we're committed to it and [showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] are committed to it," Lombardo said.
"Obviously George is an integral part of the creative team," Lombardo added. "So next season every move is being choreographed very closely with him. Certainly after next year we'll have to figure it out with George, but we're not concerned about it."
Martin hasn't revealed when the sixth installment of "A Song of Fire And Ice" saga will be released, but teased details about "Winds of Winter" to Entertainment Weekly.
"Well, Tyrion and [Daenerys] will intersect, in a way, but for much of the book they're still apart," Martin said. "They both have quite large roles to play here. Tyrion has decided that he actually would like to live, for one thing, which he wasn't entirely sure of during the last book, and he's now working toward that end-if he can survive the battle that's breaking out all around him. And Dany has embraced her heritage as a Targaryen and embraced the Targaryen words. So they're both coming home."
Martin also claimed the book will start right in the middle of the action. Fans won't have to wait for big deaths and betrayals in the beginning of "Winds of Winter."
"I think we're gonna start out with a big smash with the two enormous battles," Martin told EW, adding, "We have more deaths, and we have more betrayals. We have more marriages."
