Argentina made a strong run to the World Cup final behind the talent of superstar Lionel Messi. Now the Argentines are poised to play in what Messi has called "the game of our lives."
"Tomorrow, we will play the most important match of our lives for our country," Messi wrote on his Facebook page, according to FIFA.com. "My dreams and my hopes are being fulfilled due to the hard work and sacrifice of a team that has given everything from match one.
"We knew it was possible. Our people, the Argentines, they have carried us here. But the dream is not over yet. Tomorrow we want to win, and we are ready."
Germany won five matches and tied one. Their latest win, a 7-1 rout of Brazil in the semifinals, showed the chemistry of the German starting lineup and how well the National team has come together since beginning the tournament almost a month ago.
"Germany are always very strong physically and tactically," Messi said. "For that reason they are the team that has won most titles along with Brazil and Italy. They use the ball very well and play the ball between the lines. They also use the space behind full-backs very well, especially with (Philipp) Lahm.
"We have to play a perfect match."
Argentina won all of their previous six matches, including a win in penalties against the Netherlands in Wednesday's semifinal.
"The mood is positive and they're brimming with confidence," Argentina manager Alejandro Sabella said of his team to FIFA.com. "They have a winning mentality, but they know they're up against top-class opponents. We need to produce a perfect performance to beat them."
