Lea Michele marked Cory Monteith's first death anniversary by posting an emotional tweet and a picture on Twitter.
Lea Michele may have moved on and found herself a new lover but she still holds Cory Monteith very close to her heart. Marking his first death anniversary, the "Glee" actress took to her Twitter account to post an emotional tweet.
"We hold you in our hearts today, and every day we remember your smile," Michele wrote. "We will love you and miss you always."
She also attached a photo of Cory. The photo is clearly a personal one, which is a close up of Cory taken at sunset. At just 31 years old, Cory was found dead from a toxic alcohol and heroin mix in a Vancouver hotel room last year. His loss is still deeply felt by fans and peers alike.
After Monteith's death last July from a drug overdose, the 27-year-old singer-actress has said that working on her album, "Louder" and autobiographical songs such as "If You Say So" really helped her get through the aftermath of his death.
"I somehow feel the insane love Cory and I had for each other morphed into this strength that I have right now," Michele said in the January issue of Teen Vogue. "There's just something about knowing he's watching everything I'm doing and feeling like I have to do everything now not just for me but for him. I also have a safety net below me-if I fall or if it's too much, my friends and family will be there to catch me."
With Monteith's death, FOX network was forced to kill the actor's character "Finn" in Glee season 5. The absence of Finn's character has impacted the viewership of Glee. The season premier attracted a 30 percent lower viewership than did the season 4 opener. Season 5 has also been able to earn only a 2.0 rating. However, a season 5 episode where the entire cast paid tribute to Monteith attracted over 7.5 million viewers, the highest of this season. The episode included a heart-wrenching rendition of "Make You Feel My Love" by Michele.
Hollywood Life reported that Michele plans on spending the day alone.
"She is going to make a mention of it on Twitter and Instagram but for most of the day she is going to mourn on her own time and keep her thoughts and feelings to herself," a source told the tabloid. "She knows that Cory would want to live her life and that is exactly what she will be doing."
