A Turkish woman was able to save herself and her unborn child by jumping from a burning building into the crowd below. The frightening moment was caught on video and uploaded to YouTube on Monday.
A crowd is seen gathered outside a building surrounded by flames and smoke while a young, pregnant woman crouches outside a first-story window near the building's ledge.
Smoke engulfs the heavily pregnant woman as she dangles her legs on the roof's edge, steadying herself to jump. Onlookers below sprang into action and managed to collect a sheet and pieces of cardboard to catch the helpless woman, according to the Daily Mirror.
With the sheet in place, the woman jumps from the building and is caught by the crowd. She was taken to a hospital and is said to be in good condition, according to the person who posted the video online.
Another pregnant woman who jumped in an unrelated incident wasn't so lucky. A pregnat Sweedish woman plummeted to her death during a base jumping attempt off a cliff in the Swiss mountains in 2012, the U.K. newspaper The Sun reported.
It was not immediately clear where in Turkey the incident took place or what caused the fire.
