Robot Uses Lego Blocks to Build Tower to Space (VIDEO)

Stacking machine Hknssn has developed a robot that is theoretically capable of building its way to outer space using Lego blocks.

The gadget, called the "Lego space elevator," is designed to take little plastic bricks and continuously stack them on top of each other until it runs out of blocks to put together, according to CNET.

The company described the robot as "A machine that stacks modules and locks them into place, theoretically all the way up to space. Assuming that Lego is magical and violates the laws of physics."

The pre-made building blocks used for the tower are given to the robot along a pair of conveyors, The Escapist reported.

According to the company's calculations, the robot can work at 0.533 centimeters (0.2 inches) per second. The project would need more than 33 days to build a tower higher than the world's current tallest Lego tower, which stands at a record-holding 36 meters.

Another interesting fact about the robot shared by Hknssn is that it would take 7,432 years, without any breaks, to build a tower that could reach space at over 62 miles above sea level, CNET reported.

Hknssn recently posted a video on YouTube that shows the robot putting the Lego tower together.
