NBA Future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan has asked the judge in his divorce case to halt proceedings until after the San Antonio Spurs win the NBA Finals, according to TMZ.
TMZ says it is in possession of legal documents filed in Bexar County, Texas, which say Duncan’s job “is currently making extraordinary demands on him and hopefully will continue to make those demands for the next 30 or so days." 30 days from now is June 24. By this time, the NBA Finals will have concluded.
So yes, Tim Duncan sees his 5th ring coming in the near future.
Amy Duncan, the power forward’s wife, filed for divorce two months ago saying the union had become" insupportable because of discord and conflict."
According to the legal docs, Duncan plans to activate his pre-nuptial agreement. This is most likely in Duncan’s best interest since the couple tied the knot four years after he went in the NBA Draft’s first round. Last year, he signed a three-year, $36 million deal. The Duncan’s have been married for 12 years.
Duncan believes he and Amy will come to terms on how to financially support their two children.
The Spurs are currently in good shape in the Western Conference Finals. They are up two games to none after a 105-83 victory against the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 and 93-89 overtime win in Game 2. Duncan has played at his usual hall-of-fame caliber in this series. He had 17 pts and nine rebounds in Game 2. Duncan had a more all-around performance in the first game with six points (less than his usual numbers), four assists and 10 rebounds and two blocks.
