Tinder rolled out an update to its Android mobile app with support for Android Wear smartwatches to make dating effortless.
Tinder has launched and update for its mobile dating app with support for Google's Android Wear platform. Tinder wants its users to seamlessly access nearby dating matches and start swiping to left or right to like or dislike different profiles. All key functions of the Tinder app on Android smartphone have been integrated into the small smartwatch screen.
The Tinder update makes the app compatible with Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch, which are currently the only two Android Wear smartwatches. The range of devices will expand soon, as Motorola is expected to launch its Moto 360 and ASUS is also planning to explore the new wearable platform.
Tinder is a unique online dating app that connects people based on their mutual likes. Users can only send messages to another person if both have liked each other's profile. Users can set up a profile with photos that will be visible to others on the app. Tapping a photo will show the detailed profile, other pictures and match notifications.
Tinder users on Android Wear smartwatches have a simple set up. Simply login to the app on the smartphone and automatically start viewing profiles, send messages, use the swipe feature with "Start Tinder" command.
According to Tinder, the support for Android Wear frees mobile users from sticking to their phones at all times and helps meet new people and converse with their matches on the go. Phandroid tried the app on a LG G Watch and said it worked well with few glitches. The swiping function was seamless and tapping a photo pulled up a quick bio. Long pressing quickly closed the app, returning to the usual watch face. The tech blog said the app worked slow at times and reported some crashes.
In addition to Android Wear support, Tinder also fixed the bug that prevented "Activity" to show up for users with multiple matches. The app also received stability, UI and performance improvements. Users can now refresh on matches and moments, according to the app's change-log on Play Store.
Last month, Tinder added a new feature called Moments that allows users to share photos with their matches, which disappear after 24 hours.
The updated Tinder app is available for download from Google Play Store for free.
