HBO's "Game of Thrones" has announced its five directors for the show's upcoming fifth season.
Entertainment Weekly reports directors Michael Slovis, Mark Mylod, Jeremy Podeswa, Miguel Sapochnik and David Nutter are each directing two episodes of season five.
HBO President of Programming Michael Lombardo recently teased details about the upcoming season during the Television Critics Association press tour. Many reporters asked about the future of the series considering George R.R. Martin hasn't finished the saga. Lombardo assured fans the show's production won't be hindered by Martin's progression on the novels.
"Well, again, we're not off on our own. George [R. R. Martin] is an integral part of the creative team on this," Lombardo said. "So at least with respect to next season, every step, every move is being choreographed very closely with him. And I think, you know, certainly after next year, we will have to figure it out with George if his book's not finished at this point, but we're in conversations with him. We're not concerned about it."
"And of equal importance, [Game of Thrones showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] are in constant communication, in conversation with him," HBO Chairman and CEO Richard Plepler added. "So they're working, as they always have, very closely to model the future. So, no, we're not losing any sleep over that at all."
Fans can also look forward to a "Game of Thrones" panel at San Diego Comic-Con International 2014 panel on Friday, July 25 in Hall H at 1:40 p.m. The panel will include Martin, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, as well as cast members Gwendoline Christie, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Natalie Dormer, Kit Harington, Rose Leslie, Rory McCann, Pedro Pascal, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams.
HBO has yet to announce the official premiere date of "Game of Thrones" season five.
