Shakira is officially Facebook famous.
The Columbian singer has gathered over 100 million likes on her Facebook page, becoming the first person whose brand page has broken the record, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The "Hips Don't Lie" singer released a statement about her achievement, saying, "I am honored and humbled about reaching this milestone. Social media and specifically Facebook has helped myself and other artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience."
The former coach and judge on NBC's "The Voice" posted two videos on her Facebook page, expressing her gratitude to fans that showed their support.
"100 million fans on Facebook. I mean that is incredible," she said in the video. "Thank you so much for your support, for your loyalty, for your love. It's really unbelievable, thank you so much."
The second video included a photo collection, including some of her greatest moments since joining Facebook and a handwritten letter to her fans, which read, "100 million friends on Facebook! Thank you so much for joining me and propelling me on this incredible journey. I couldn't do it with you all!"
Guinness World Records also commented on Shakira's achievement with a blog post on Friday, writing, "Congratulations to @shakira who today set a new record for first person to reach 100 million likes on @facebook!"
The Wall Street Journal reported Shakira's overall activity has increased since the release of her World Cup song "La La La (Brazil 2014)," which she recently performed at the closing ceremony in Rio.
Shakira told the publication that the milestone was "a really welcoming and heartwarming surprise" and called it "an unfathomable number." The singer has employed two people to help her manage the Facebook page, but revealed that she enjoys posting and interacting on the page herself."I can interact meaningfully with [fans] on a regular basis and the response is immediate," she said.
In March, Facebook named the singer most-liked musician with 86.3 million likes - beating out singer Rihanna, who got 86.2 million likes.
