Popular mobile tipster, evleaks shared a list of APKs for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that confirm the use of a Quad HD display for the upcoming phablet.
Samsung has once again come under the spotlight for the rumored specs of its unannounced Galaxy Note 4. The new leak comes from a reliable, renowned mobile leakster, evleaks, which confirms a few specifications for Note 4. The tipster posted a list of APKs (Android application package files) that will potentially be incorporated into the upcoming phablet.
The APKs or the apps published by evleaks give a hint or two about the upcoming Note 4 specs. Some of the apps are general and expected, such as Samsung Music, Voice Note, Easy Launcher. But the ones that stand out are mainly of interest. The mention of WQHD in APKs such as "SStudio_WQHD_K," "OutOfFocusViewer", "PhotoStudio", and "SmartSelfShot" suggest a Quad-HD resolution for the new device.
WQHD, which is popularly termed as QHD, is a display resolution with 2560 x 1440 pixels. Only handful of devices use QHD displays, such as the LG G3 and Oppo Find 7. As QHD becomes a new standard for smartphone displays, it is obvious for a tech leader such as Samsung to stay on top of its game with the latest technology for the devices in its lineup.
Samsung is expected to unveil the fourth generation of the Galaxy Note in September at the IFA. The month of September is going to be a busy one as rival Apple is also expected to launch at least one of its iPhone 6 models while Sony will refresh the Xperia Z2.
According to GSM Arena, another notable APK leaked by evleaks is "VRSVC," which is likely to be an app to control theSamsung's upcoming Gear VR headset. If the suggested APK is certain for VR headset then Samsung will pair the Galaxy Note 4 launch with Gear VR at the IFA.
Evleaks also pointed towards other APKs such as SmartSelfShot, which could be a new way of taking selfies, and an updated version of S Health will come pre-loaded in the Note 4. The Note 4 will likely come with a fingerprint scanner too, as an APK for the feature was listed in Note 3 but never actually came along with the final product.
Previous leaked features pointed toward a unique UV sensor that will be integrated into the Note 4 that will measure the sun's UV radiation and suggest precautions to its users. Last week, a new report suggested Samsung will be integrating an eye-scanning feature on Note 4.
All details are yet to be confirmed by Samsung, without which they are nothing more than tales.
