Don't expect to see Nasim Pedrad on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" next season.
The 32-year-old actress, who is best known for her impersonation of Kim Kardashian on "Saturday Night Live," has decided not to return for another season after being on the television sketch comedy for five years.
TV Guide reported that the comedic actress is stepping down to star on former SNL writer John Mulaney's new Fox sitcom, "Mulaney," which also stars Martin Short, Seaton Smith, Zack Pearlman and Elliott Gould.
Pedrad addressed her departure at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Sunday, saying, "Obviously there's nothing like that show and I was lucky to be there for five years. At some point you have to leave, and I can't think of a better reason to leave than for this particular show and this particular cast."
The "No Strings Attached" actress added if it weren't for Mulaney she would have stayed on SNL. However, since the two shows are filmed on opposite coasts, Pedrad said it would not "have been practical" to stay on SNL.
"What's really cool about SNL is it really does prepare you for anything," she added. "Things are done so quickly there. You have one night to write the show. It's live, so things can go wrong. Things can change last minute. To be able to pull that off prepares you for complicated situations. It makes you that much better."
"Mulaney" is based on Mulaney's life as a former freelance comedy writer. The show was picked up by FOX Network last fall and will be executive produced by SNL head honcho Lorne Michaels.
"I don't think it's that common to get this kind of group together, and having experienced working with John [Mulaney] at 'SNL,'" she said. "I couldn't be more confident in his ability to write and star in a sitcom like this, truly."
"Mulaney" is scheduled to debut Sunday, Oct. 5 at 9:30 P.M. on FOX.
