Joseph Morgan, who stars in "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries," is a married man.
People Magazine reported that the 33-year-old actor married 41-year-old actress Persia White on July 5 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The nuptials come just two months after the couple, who first met on season three of the "Vampire Diaries," announced their engagement.
"Happiest day of my life" the actor tweeted Wednesday, along with a link to the People Magazine article announcing the nuptials.
"It had a very rustic feel to it," White told People. "There was nothing about it that was overwhelming or very huge or fabulous in that way. We tried to keep everything really intimate and beautiful and sort of going along with nature."
The couple wed in front 26 guests, including Morgan's best man Matt Ryan, who will star on NBC's "Constantine" this fall. The intimate ceremony took place at a private villa near where the couple first got engaged.
"I think one of the reasons we picked it was because we love the ocean and we both grew up by the sea," White said. "To be by the sea was wonderful. And the people of Jamaica are just wonderful."
Morgan added, "It was mostly family, a handful of close friends. My best man was my best friend of almost 20 years, Matt Ryan. He actually plays John Constantine on the new NBC show Constantine, but we've been friends since we were teenagers."
White, who is best known for her role as Lynn Searcy on the sitcom "Girlfriends," wore a "Vera Wang dress with a cathedral-length veil." Morgan donned a white silk tux with black lapels by designer Miguel Wilson. The actor boasted about tying his own bow tie the day of the wedding.
"And then I had a bow tie. In fact, the bow tie was the first bow tie I've ever tied myself," Morgan said, adding, "so I was quite proud of that."
At the reception, the newlyweds celebrated their first dance to Florence and the Machine's "Never Let Me Go." Guests boogied to the beats of Jamaican drumming group "Children of the Drums". Family and close friends dined on a vegan menu, including an animal product-free wedding cake.
"They got everybody up on the dance floor," Morgan said. "At one point, all of our guests were on the dance floor, which is an achievement, I think."
After exchanging vows, the couple took a helicopter to Negril for their honeymoon and kicked things off by "partaking in the favorite local pastime-cliff jumping." White told People she hopes to start a family soon with "Little cute mini Josephs!"
