Everyone remembers when pop star Justin Bieber was the cute kid with the amazing voice from Canada. His vocals - and charm - blew people away and he quickly skyrocketed to become one of the most popular young singers. Well, Bieber - who has had his share of his legal troubles and girlfriend problems - could find himself in competition with the next big star: YouTuber Troye Sivan.
Sivan, 19, has already been dubbed "the next Justin Bieber" by some and has a HUGE following on the video sharing site. According to Showbiz411, the singer's independent music career took off after his release of the song, "The Fault in Our Stars," in 2013.
In a YouTube video, Sivan explained that he wrote and produced the song after reading John Green's novel, The Fault in Our Stars. The book has since been adapted into a movie starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. Sivan's song will not be featured on the movie's soundtrack.
The song and accompanying music video was well-received on YouTube and fans were even more excited when Sivan revealed that he's releasing his first EP, titled "TRXYE," on Aug. 15. He's already released the first single, "Happy Little Pill."
"I wrote this song during a bit of a rough time for someone super close to me, and for myself, and it still means as much to me as the day I wrote it, and I'm still as in love with it as the day I wrote it," he said about the song, according to News.com.au.
According to Showbiz411 the EP is already number 1 on the iTunes album chart.
"I've spent the last year working with the most incredible producers and writers in the most incredible places," Sivan said in a YouTube video announcing his EP. "I wrote over 40 songs and it has been the most intense and insane journey."
Sivan is currently managed in America by Group III and he's signed to Universal Music, Showbiz411 reports.
