LeBron James announced on Twitter the jersey number he will wear for his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
James used Twitter on July 18 to ask fans which number he should use in Cleveland: either 23 - the number he wore for his first seven seasons with the Cavaliers - or 6 - the number he wore in the Olympics and for four years with the Miami Heat.
No. 32 was also a possibility, according to ESPN. James wore 32 during his freshman year of high school when No. 23 wasn't available.
James's decision to return to No. 23 was somewhat surprising, given an interview he gave in 2010 when he said he believed the number should be retired out of respect for NBA legend Michael Jordan, who made the number famous.
"I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized in some way -- soon," James said in March 2010, via ESPN. "If you see 23, you think about Michael Jordan. You see guys flying through the air, you think about Michael Jordan. You see game-winning shots, you think about Michael Jordan. You see fly kicks, you think about Michael Jordan. He did so much, it has to be recognized, and not just by putting him in the Hall of Fame."
