Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is getting some help in the anger management department.
The 31-year-old former "Jersey Shore" star has voluntarily agreed to complete 12 weeks of anger management classes following his June arrest. The reality actor was arrested in his family's tanning salon in Middletown Township, N.J., after physically assaulting his brother Frank.
The dispute reportedly began after the reality star accused his brother of "not running the store correctly, so I had to go in there and clean house-in more ways than one." During an interview with the Star Ledger, Sorrentino said he did not intend to be so aggressive during the altercation.
Us Weekly reported that the program is a part of a plea deal from the assault case and if Sorrentino completes his anger management courses, his assault charge could be downgraded to disorderly conduct. No court date has been set for the next hearing.
When asked outside of a New Jersey court room about his relationship with his brother, Sorrentino replied, "It's almost like you take it back to when you were younger. Every family argues; that's how it goes."
Earlier this month, Sorrentino opened up to People Magazine about his recent familial altercation.
"I'm not perfect and neither is any family in the world," he said. "I've been arguing and fighting with my little brothers since I was 6 or 7. There was a little discrepancy with work. I was a little upset or maybe there was a miscommunication, and the next thing you know, it turns into something else... No matter what happens, I love my family"
Sorrentino told TMZ that he hopes the anger management classes will benefit him. At the time of the assault the reality star was seen sporting a black eye, which reportedly came from his mother, Linda, who told E! News, "I was trying to break him and Frank up and I think I missed and..."
The family's tanning club is the center of a new TVGN reality show about the Sorrentino family called "The Sorrentinos" - airing Tuesdays at 10/9c.
