Ohio State coach Urban Meyer doesn't understand why quarterback Tim Tebow doesn't have a job in the NFL. Meyer intimated teams haven't properly utilized the skill set of Tebow, who's reportedly still training incase a team contacts him.
Tebow will be one year fully removed from the NFL come August, when the New England Patriots cut him last year in training camp. Opportunities haven't arisen for the former Florida Gator to return to the league, something which Meyer doesn't understand.
"I still don't get that part of it," Meyer said Tuesday at Big Ten Media Days, via NFL.com. "He's the second-most efficient passer ever to play college football."
Meyer also suggested Tebow's lack of success in the pros was because teams failed to build their offenses around the Heisman-winner.
"He had really good personnel around him (at Florida) and we utilized his skill very well," Meyer said. "I think in a traditional setting, it is difficult, but there's a lot of non-traditional offenses now in the NFL. ... (Tebow will) be successful in whatever he does, but he's such a good player. I just wish it would work out for him."
Tebow, who's currently employed as a broadcaster for ESPN's SEC Network, still is training in the offseason incase a team offers him a tryout.
"I feel great," Tebow said last week, via NFL.com. "I feel the strongest, healthiest, throwing the best I ever have. I'm just really excited about the improvement. ...
"One of my favorite quotes is 'I don't know what my future holds, but I know who holds my future.' And in that, it gives you peace to just continue to work, go after what your heart desires and when you do that, you don't have any regrets. I think that's the best way to live life."
Barring an NFL team signing him, Tebow is set to begin his fulltime broadcasting career next month when the college football season starts.
