Foxconn now wants to move to add new customers and decrease the company's dependence on Apple.
An unnamed company executive from Foxconn reveals to Apple Insider that the company is taking a big leap into developing its own line of accessories which are compatible to Apple products.
Recently, Foxconn noticed that its profits fell 19 percent in during the first quarter of this year; meanwhile, a 2.9 percent increase in the company profit was still reported. Such a decrease in income corresponds with Apple's first reported a decrease in profits for nearly 10 years. Although Foxconn does not declare it, a lot of market watchers think that Apple is accountable to as much as 50 percent of Foxconn's income.
An anonymous executive from Foxconn reveals that the company is planning to provide all components for the devices it develops. At the moment, companies such as Apple purchase their gears from several retailers then send them over to Foxconn to have it assembled into a finished product.
Aside from having plans of manufacturing, reports also say that Foxconn is also looking into selling its own line of accessories, which includes headphones, keyboards, and cables that are said to be compatible with Apple's iPads and iPhones. According to Monday's reports, Foxconn may be also directly selling its own line of electronics and its partners'.
In early parts of May, Foxconn has expressed their effort to reduce its dependent on Apple's iPhone product lines. The New York Times also provided more details last Monday on the plans, saying that the company also has bought a considerable amount of Sharp stocks, revealing that the company also has interest in developing televisions.
Apple has been continuously losing profits since it is yet to launch any new product in 2013. Tim Cook, Apple CEO, reveals that they will have a major release of new lines this fall and in 2014.
