HTC and Google tie-up for the rumored next-gen Nexus tablet HTC Volantis may integrate 5GB RAM and metal unibody along with other high-end specs.
HTC's partnership with Google for the development of the next-gen Nexus tablet has been making the rounds for a long time. Several media reports have suggested the Nexus 9 is internally being called Volantis but the details on the specifications of the upcoming tablet have been scanty. A new report by the popular mobile tipster Evleaks outlines the internal specifications of the HTC Volantis, suggesting a whopping 5GB RAM and a metal unibody for the tablet.
According to the detailed report by Evleaks, the HTC tablet will feature a silver aluminum unibody with a high-end 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, 5GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and a rear-facing camera with either 5-megapixels or 8-megapixels.
The new leak differs from the earlier rumors about the tablet's specs. Evleaks report suggests an 8.9-inch display with an upgraded 2560x1600-pixel resolution instead of 2048x1440 pixel resolution, which was reported last week. The previous leaks also suggested a 2GB RAM but Evleaks paints a completely new picture.
The report also adds the HTC Volantis will feature HTC's flagship BoomSound speakers for enhanced audio experience.
In June, detailed specifications were reported by Android Police's Liam Spradlin, which suggested the tablet is pegged for the Android Silver program. The aluminium unibody was earlier reported among other details such as the screen size, 8-megapixel rear-camera with OIS technology and a 3MP front camera.
But evleaks did not give any specific release date or a clear image of the device. But the zoomed image shows brushed metal and parts of the device that appears to be the camera and a flash. Reports point towards an autumn release along with the public release of Android L, CNET reports.
