New $120 Fitness Tracker Introduced by Startup Runtastic

Startup Runtastic introduced its own fitness tracker Thursday called Orbit, joining the many companies currently involved in creating devices for monitoring health.

The tracker comes with an OLED display that lets it measure several factors, such the number of steps the user has taken, calories burnt, total active minutes, and the time, according to PC Magazine.

"We know what you might be thinking- what makes Orbit different?" Runtastic wrote in a blog post Thursday. "In the competitive wearable market, Orbit boasts a ton of fun features and reliable functionality that sets us apart from the competition."

Orbit's additional features include vibration feedback, ambient light detection, a battery that can keep it powered for a full week, and being waterproof up to 300 feet, TechCrunch reported. It can also track sleep and offers regular inactivity vibration alerts and wakeup calls. The soft rubberized material added on the band is designed to make the tracker comfortable to wear.

The wristband can work with the Runtastic's current smartphone apps, such as Runtastic Me and Runtastic Pro. When used with the fitness tracker software, the device changes modes and is automatically detected, giving a countdown until the user starts running. It also provides updates, such as the amount of time gone by and the distance covered. The feature currently only works with Runtastic and Runtastic Pro, but the startup said it will eventually make Orbit support available for all of its software.

The Orbit comes with two wristbands - one blue and one black - along with a clip, providing more ways to wear the device.

"We want to help you get more familiar with your daily activities, optimize your life and live just a little bit better," Runtastic wrote. "How can Orbit make it happen? You could start by increasing your daily steps, locking down a more consistent sleep schedule or simply identifying the moments in your day where you can sneak in a bit of extra movement."

Those looking for a new fitness tracker can pre-order the Orbit now from the startup's website for $120. It will be set to ship starting August 11th, according to the company.
