A man who was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening to punch "Good Morning America" co-host Robin Roberts in the face has pleaded not guilty to stalking and harassment.
E! Online reported that 43-year-old Troy Warren visited Roberts outside ABC's Time Square studios at least eight times and demanded to see her - even threatening to punch the TV host in her face. He was arrested on Monday and charged with stalking in the fourth degree and harassment.
According to the criminal complaint filed, Warren reportedly told GMA security director Michael Centrella that, "When I see her I'm going to punch her in the face," because she owed him money. A judge set bail and issued an order of protection mandating Warren to stay away from Roberts.
Warren was being held for $3,000 bail at the Manhattan Detention Center. Authorities released a statement saying, "Due to the defendant's above described conduct, Ms. Robin Roberts fears for her physical safety and well-being."
"The safety and security of the entire GMA family is a priority and we are grateful for the Disney security team and their vigilance," ABC said Thursday. "We broadcast from Times Square, one of the busiest areas of Manhattan, and are lucky to have the support of NYPD in ensuring the safety of our employees and audience."
The arrest comes one month after a homeless man tried to attack co-host Michael Strahan outside the GMA set.
His next scheduled court date is Aug. 4.
