Singer Keith Urban addressed the unfortunate incidents that took place at his recent Massachusetts concern, saying he was "horrified" to learn about the events.
Keith Urban's recent Massachusetts gig witnessed some unfortunate incidents. First over 22 people were hospitalized for "alcohol-related" problems and then a 17-year-old girl was raped at the concert site. Urban has now released a statement addressing both events.
"My team and I were horrified to learn of the events reported in Boston this past weekend and our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected. This type of behavior stands in stark contrast to the spirit of our shows," he said.
Mansfield county Chairman of the Board of Selectman George Dentino, who attended the concert, told FOX411 that an understaffed police force did a "terrific job" handling the rowdy crowd and that investigations were still underway.
"I know [Urban] made a statement [on YouTube] but he'd probably left town by the time the investigations were coming to light," Dentino said. "We have not heard from him."
Earlier this week it was reported that a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an 18-year-old man during the concert. According to the CBS Boston, the sexual assault on the lawn of the outdoor amphitheater happened while other concertgoers watched, some of whom shot videos with their cellphones. It's been reported that some of those videos have been obtained by investigators as evidence.
Prior to this, 22 people were sent to the hospital for "alcohol-related issues." EMS attended to a total of 46 people suffering from alcohol-related illnesses, with 22 being sent to the hospital. Police also reportedly took more than 50 people into custody and made several arrests.
"In total, Fire and EMS attended to 46 medicals resulting in 22 transports mostly alcohol-related," Mansfield Police Chief Ron Sellon and Fire Chief Neil Boldrighini said in a statement, according to Reuters.
