Amazon’s Treat for Android Users; 30 Paid Apps Worth $100 For Free

Amazon is offering 30 paid apps worth $100 for free in a bid to steal Android users for its Amazon app store.

Amazon, the largest online retailer, is challenging the world leader in mobile OS and internet search operations, Google, with its Amazon Appstore offering a generous giveaway. The e-commerce giant listed 30 paid Android apps worth $100 for users to download at no cost.

The offering is an extension to the company's daily deal of giving one paid Android app free for 24-hours. As a part of its new promotion, Amazon is giving new and popular paid apps such as Instapaper ($3), My Alarm Clock ($0.99), Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing ($2) for free. Android users can choose apps ranging from $0.99 to $29.99.

Pricey apps like Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, 8th edition, which usually retails for $30, and Essential Anatomy 3, which sells for $24, are also offered for free.

The Oxford dictionary features 184,500 words, phrases and meanings along with over 57,000 synonyms and opposites, access to over 95,000 example sentences and lot more. The app features customizable fonts and background along with a detailed help file for assistance.

The $24 worth Essential Anatomy 3 explains everything about the human body with the app's 3D interface. Other apps like Daily Workouts, which is usually $3.99, acts as a trainer to guide users with right fitness regime and Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing offers immersive car racing experience in a smartphone.

The promotions and apps work on any Android smartphone as well as Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets and the Fire Phone. The Google Play Store-alternative is pre-loaded on Amazon devices but other Android phones and tablets need to install Amazon Appstore separately, USA Today reports. Android users must allow downloads from unknown sources under security settings to install the Amazon app store.
