Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant and safety J.J. Wilcox got into a physical altercation over the weekend at training camp. The scuffle came after Wilcox delivered a huge hit on Bryant, as the video below shows.
Wilcox leveled Bryant on a passing route Sunday, prompting the receiver to immediately go after Wilcox. Bryant greeted him with a headbutt, and Wilcox reacted with swinging a close fist at Bryant's helmet.
The fight, the first reported from Cowboys camp, quickly ended and resulted in hard feelings between the players.
"J.J. put a nice hit on me," Bryant said, via the Dallas Morning News. "He pissed me off, but at the end of the day, I loved it. I told him, 'Keep it coming.' Hopefully the rest of the guys on that defense - not only the defense, but the offense and the whole team - feed off of that. That's what it takes to win. That's what we need to win. You've got to have that passion and that love for the game."
Wilcox conceded he took a "cheap" hit on Bryant but insisted it was for the benefit of the team.
"I got a good little cheap shot in," Wilcox said. "That's the spark you need. I am trying to feed off it and get my defense right."
