'Game Of Thrones' Season 5: Sophie Turner Talks Sansa's Transition Out Of King's Landing, Why She'll Miss Working With Peter Dinklage

Sophie Turner is excited to leave King’s Landing, even if it means her storyline gets a little quieter.

During an interview with Hero Complex, Turner explained why the transition for Sansa Stark had a huge impact on the way fans looked at her character in season four.

“That was awesome because no one is Team Sansa,” Turner said, referring to a fan who asked about the character during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel this year. “People are adjusting. I think it’s helped that she actually did something kind of cool last season where she was like manipulating and a little bit bad-ass.”

In season four, Sansa lied her way out of a situation in Eyrie, saving Littlefinger in the process. Turner is still getting used to not being in the midst of the excitement of King’s Landing. However, she is grateful to have a more dialogue and a deeper storyline than past seasons.

“It was crazy to get out of King’s Landing,” Turner told Hero Complex. “I’ve been there for the past three years of my life. [I went] from having a storyline with nearly everyone in the show, then it was suddenly me and Aiden. It’s nice to have a really meaty chunk of dialogue because Sansa, when she was in King’s Landing, there was no dialogue, so it’s nice to have that change. It is welcome.”

Turner added she would miss working with Peter Dinklage, as Sansa’s relationship with husband Tyrion Lannister was one of her favorite is the show.

“Doing the scenes with Peter is fun because he’s so funny and we get on really well,” Turner said. “It’s nice because we both really understand the relationship that they have. They have this unspoken trust – she’s so much more open with him than she is with [other people]. You can see she’s a lot more relaxed around him, even if it’s just a snarky comment, she wouldn’t say that to someone else in court. She doesn’t want to trust him because he’s a Lannister but she knows that she can. It’s really sweet.
