Michigan Man Throws Rave For 2,000

A Michigan man threw a rave for over 2,000 people in his backyard Saturday night where there was underage drinking and allegations of sexual assault, along with multiple reports of drug overdoses and alcohol poisoning.

The police received multiple neighborhood complaints around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, reports MLive. When the police arrived at the Five Mile Road where the rave was held, it was almost entirely blocked from cars.

It was a "mass casualty incident," according to dispatchers, which meant they needed to call in every available deputy, officer, trooper and paramedic from Mescosta County. They also called for help from neighboring counties Montclam and Isabella.

"We were so outnumbered," Mescosta County Sheriff Todd Purcell, told MLive.

Police did not go inside to break up the party, despite the underage drinking, because they were afraid people would flee and drive while intoxicated, as MLive reports.

Parcell told MLive that they could sense that the partiers did not have a cop-friendly attitude, and he was concerned that an intervention would lead to the injury of paramedics and police.

The party was modeled on the 2012 American comedy Project X, where three high school students try to make a name for themselves by throwing an out-of-control house party using social media.

The Michigan party mimicked the movie so closely that rave-goers were using the hash tag "#ProjectP" to post pictures.

"It was insane! I've never seen so many people in a gathering like that. It was amazing though," Charrelle Dunston told FOX17.

Approximately six people were hospitalized for drug overdoses or other injuries, including a man who jumped off the roof and hurt his neck, reports MLive.

A 19-year-old girl who was also alledgedly sexually assaulted in a car. The incident is still under investigation and the details are unclear at present.

Police are seeking multiple charges for the property's owner and event organizers.
