'The Sims 4' Talks Mod Support For PC During Preview Event: 'It Is Interesting To See What People Come Up With' (TRAILER)

EA’s “The Sims 4” developers have revealed details about mod support for PC gamers.

IGN reports developers talked about mod support during a preview event for the upcoming title. EA wants their gamers to use “The Sims 4” to foster their creativity, but cannot guarantee all mods will be reviewed the teams.

"Everything the community makes is astounding to us, super inspiring, and it is interesting to see what people come up with," developers told the preview audience, according to IGN. "Please continue doing it, as we want to be able to encourage and foster that creativity because it's so important to what The Sims means to everyone."

"We cannot officially support and screen everything that comes out,” the developers added. “So it is very important to us that we set up a good foundation that can help the community manage what they're creating, and communicate to other people how to responsibly get involved in the modding and creating community."

It is likely one talented modder will attempt to create a pool or toddler mod. “The Sims 4” recently dealt with backlash from gamers for removing pools and toddlers from base gameplay. EA took to the Sim’s official blog to explain the developer’s decision.

"Hard pill to swallow, believe me, but delivering on the vision set out for The Sims 4 required focus," EA wrote. "Focus on revolutionizing the Sims themselves. So, rather than include toddlers, we chose to go deeper on the features that make Sims come alive: meaningful and often amusing emotions; more believable motion and interactions; more tools in Create A Sim, and more realistic (and sometimes weird!) Sim behavior.

"Instead of pools, we chose to develop key new features in Build Mode: direct manipulation, building a house room-by-room and being able to exchange your custom rooms easily, to make the immediate environment even more relatable and interactive for your Sim."

"The Sims 4" will be released to PC on Sept. 2.
