Justin Bieber Stops Bear From Mauling Russian Man To Death

A Russian fisherman recently escaped being mauled to death by a bear when his phone's Justin Bieber ringtone went off and scared the bear away.

The brown bear attacked 42-year-old Igor Vorozhbitsyn as he was on his way to his regular fishing spot in Yakutia Republic in northern Russia, the Croatian Times reported.

"I had parked my car and was walking towards the spot I'd marked out when there was a tremendous impact on my back and the bear was on top of me," Vorozhbitsyn said according to the newspaper.

Before the bear could claw his eyes out, Bieber's hit song "Baby" started playing and the furry beast ran off.

"I couldn't believe my luck when the phone went off and he fled," the fisherman said.

Vorozhbitsyn was able to use his phone to call other fishermen for help. He was rescued and is now recovering after being treated for scrapes and bruises to his face and chest.

As it turns out, it wasn't even Vorozhbitsyn's idea to feature the 20-year-old singer as a ringtone.

"I know that sort of ringtone isn't to everyone's taste, but my granddaughter loaded it onto my phone for a joke," he said according to the Croatian Times.

Perhaps some publicity from the fisherman's attack can be used for Bieber's benefit. The "Boyfriend" singer allegedly got into a recent altercation with Orlando Bloom that began when Bieber made a snide comment about Bloom's ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
