Warner Bros. has confirmed “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” doesn’t want to share a release date with Marvel’s “Captain America 3.”
The Wrap reports the studio has decided to release the film March 2016, following the footsteps of franchises like “The Hungers Games,” which skyrocketed in popularity after premiering in the same month.
The news comes after Marvel President Kevin Feige confirmed to Empire magazine back in July the studio is adamant about keeping May 16, 2016 release date, even if it meant they would have to compete with a highly anticipated DC film.
“We are doing what we’ve always done,” Feige said, “which is sticking to our plan and sticking to our vision for the movies going forward and we have a very large vision that we’re working on for Cap 3 and for all the threes movies and just because another movie plops down onto one of ours doesn’t mean we are going to alter that. Maybe we should, but we’re not going to.”
“Batman vs. Superman” is now expected to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. Warner Bros. also confirmed their DC film lineup through 2020, according to The Wrap:
