Greg Oden RUMORS: Ex-Miami Heat Center Arrested For Domestic Violence Against Ex-Girlfriend (MUGSHOT)

NBA free agent Greg Oden reportedly was arrested for punching his ex-girlfriend in the face. Police, who consider it to be a misdemeanor battery incident, said Oden was calm and apologetic when officers took him into custody.

Police allege Oden struck his former girlfriend inside a home in Lawrence, Ind. Officers responded to a disturbance call at 3:30 a.m. Thursday and found a woman lying down with blood on her face, according to FOX 59.

A witness, who identified herself as the victim's best friend, told the officers Oden had assaulted the victim.

"He punched her in the face, my hand hurts and I just want to go home," the woman told police, according to the incident report obtained by FOX 59.

A relative of Oden, who also was present at the scene, told police Oden and the victim often argued.

The victim refused medical treatment and claimed she fell. She never accused Oden of hitting her.

Oden, though, seemingly admitted to striking the victim.

Per FOX 59:

"'Things got out of control and I started to go after the victim,' police quoted Oden in the report. He said the relative and witness tried to hold him back, but he swung his arms trying to break free and punched the victim.

"'I was wrong and I know what has to happen,' Oden told officers. He said he and the woman had dated for approximately two years and he broke up about two months ago. Police described Oden as 'calm, apologetic and cooperative' and said he told them he took 'full responsibility' for his actions."

The 7-footer hasn't yet been charged with any crime, and police said all of the information would be presented to the Marion County Prosecutor's office.

Oden, a free agent, reportedly was scheduled to work out for the Los Angeles Clippers sometime in the near future.
